The Old Gods are AWAKENING

After billions of years of slumber, one of the old gods has awakened, and His sights are now turned upon your unsightly corner of the universe.

It will be awesome when SETI starts receiving an encrypted signal that takes them months to translate. It will print out on at least 200,000 pages of printer paper, and will be in quantum binary. When we solve it, the message will read:

“I see you.”

The last thing this poor world of yours will ever see is his mighty hand bearing down upon it…

Tough luck.

Still Working On It

As some of you may know, Koalacaust is digitally produced in every step except concept sketches and thumbnail sketches. That means the pencils, inks and colors are all digital.

I drew this latest late one on paper(not good paper like Bristol Board, Volume 2 will be, though) because my eyes were hurting from looking at a computer screen all day at work and I still wanted you guys to get a comic. I spent Tuesday evening cleaning the picture up and will get it up for you as soon as possible.

My schedule has been terrible. It’s downright pathetic, and I am aware of that. Fortunately, I am taking steps to get ahead for 2009. By the time that year rolls around, I’ll be way ahead! People will link to my site and everything.

Seriously. That’s the real deal, right there.

Don’t delete my bookmark! If you’re pissed that I’ve not updated as consistently as promised, you have every reason to be, but come back in a month or so. Punish me by not visiting for a while! Don’t punish both of us by never planning to return! Chapter 3 will have started by mid-November, and what’s to come will be worth it.

To my loyal friends that keep coming back just because we’re friends and you’re bored… Thanks. We both know how damn good looking you are, with those charming features and well-placed bookmarks.

No Tag Line Until I Post the New Comic, Damn It.

Comic arrives this evening.

I was unhappy with two of the panels and the colors just didn’t turn out right . It wasn’t up to snuff, basically. It will be up sometime this evening after I do a better job on it.

Chapter Two ends on Friday, then we have some Character Sheets and Location Sheets that will give you better insight into the happenings of the Koalacaust Universe and why these characters act the way they do.

I am altering the update schedule…

Hey everyone,

Due to working 40+ hours per week, along with the 25-30 hours per week spent on Koalacaust, I am going to change the update schedule so I can get ahead. I’ve been staying up late to make sure I got comics done and it’s affecting my sleep as well as the quality of my work on the comic and my day job.

You guys are coming back to keep reading, and you should see good art. I hate it when I look back at a comic and see a ton of flaws I could have easily avoided if I wasn’t tired. For this reason, I am altering the update schedule of Koalacaust to be Tuesdays and Fridays. Monday/Thursday is kind of crowded, so I’ll go with this one.

My plan is to only keep this schedule until 2009. By that time, I should be at least a month ahead, and that will give me a chance to continue improving my work. I really hate sacrificing quality just to hit a deadline that I have complete control over. This will help me improve the consistency of my characters(mostly because I’ll have more time to practice in between comics than I do now), improve the overall quality of the art and just make Koalacaust a better comic to recommend to your friends.

The comic is not ending. The comic is not going on hiatus. The comic will start with the new update schedule next Tuesday morning. If I am able to get far enough ahead(and with the big winter break my office gives everyone, this is VERY likely) I plan to start the M/W/F schedule back up on Friday, January 2.

To sum up: M/W/F update schedule is gone until 2009. A Tuesday/Friday update schedule will be adhered to until 2009.

You’ll Thank Me Later.

Late notice at the last minute!

Faithful readers and generous newcomers,

Due to maintenance issues with the server, time I should have spent drawing was spent doing a sort of panicky troubleshooting as I hurried to back everything up “just in case.”

If I am getting the comic up too late on Wednesday, I will post the new comic on Thursday as well as a new comic on Friday. By “too late” I’m talking like 10pm EST. By that time, you might as well just make it the comic for the next day.

You’ll still get 3 comics this week, but this server problem really messed me up. Hell, I hope you can see this message.

I hate it when other webcomickers miss updates at the last minute(even when they have perfectly reasonable excuses like mine), and here I am giving you excuses.

I’ll make it up to you guys, don’t worry. How does a free wallpaper sound? You can’t find those everywhere else on the entire internet!

You’ll Thank Me Later.
-Scott Robertson

P.S. That “free wallpaper” part would have been way cooler if it had a hyperlink attached to it, I’ll bet.

The Cast Page has been updated!

I wasn’t putting it off on purpose. The cast page is important, and I wanted to wait until after the site remodeling to do it. I like how it turned out, but there might be some layout problems in different browsers. I’d appreciate any feedback you can give me on these.

According to my testing, it works perfectly in Firefox 3.0.2 and distorts in Safari. By “distorts” I mean Oz-Ten’s picture aligns center when it is coded to align left. I’m looking into it. On Tuesday.

You’ll Thank Me Later.

If there is one thing I love, it’s logo design. Yes, I’m serious.

I happen to consider logo design one of the funnest aspects of art. Logos are something that stick in the public’s mind, a visual jingle, if you’ll allow it. I see certain logos and the ones that are most effective either strike up desire or disdain for that product within me.

Scrolling through Boing Boing today, I came across this post about Saul Bass, creator of some of the most famous logos you’ve almost definitely seen.

Something else to think about? The undeniable conspiracy of the Illuminati and Freemasons and their constant reassertion of dominance over you through logos that reference their presence in all walks of life.

I’m going to need harder evidence than “They use triangles and circles in logos, just like the pyramids and the sun!” Those shapes are chosen because they are visually pleasing and stand out amongst others. The owl thing, though, that’s pretty interesting.

There won’t be a comic on Monday, but…

I will have something for relevant for you.

I would have liked to do a comic, but there was a personal emergency this weekend, so I could not get the comic for Monday finished on time.

I appreciate the patience, and hopefully nobody has any issues with the new site design.

You’ll thank me later.

It All Started With a Big Bang…

Every galaxy was formed in less time than it takes to make this post

Over on the Comics Worth Reading blog, they’ve done a collection of all the comic references in The Big Bang Theory sitcom, a show I love, and you should, too. Don’t be surprised to find me singing praises of an episode that just ran, it’s a very likely scenario.

The Big Bang Theory just came out on DVD and is worth picking up. I get nothing for this, but probably would if I had properly set up my adspace by now. It’s time to make this happen. I’ve been so busy making sure I had content and comics that I’ve neglected making my site better. The winds are changing!

You’ll thank me later.

-Scott

The comic will be later than usual, but still up on Monday.

I’m a bit behind schedule, but I have Labor Day off and already did my barbecue on Saturday. I will finish up the comic and hopefully have it up by noon PST, and will finish Wednesday’s comic in advance to help myself out this week.

Thanks for your patience, everyone. I do appreciate it.

-Scott

UPDATE: I got the comic up at 4:30 pm PST.

Obviously, PST means “Parallel-Universe Standard Time”.
